Concrete Sleeper Wall in Pacific Pines

About the Concrete Sleeper Wall in Pacific Pines Project

Suburb: Pacific Pines.

Project Cost: $30,000-$35,000.

We began this project by removing a failed timber retaining wall, along with overgrown vegetation and a problematic pencil pine tree, safely removed by a qualified local arborist, that had contributed to the wall’s failure. The site was then excavated further to achieve compliant spacing between an existing retaining wall below.

Located in Pacific Pines, the excavation uncovered hard blue rock, which added complexity and cost to the project. Despite this, the material was managed efficiently, allowing works to continue.

A 25 metre concrete sleeper retaining wall was then constructed, featuring galvanised steel posts finished in charcoal colour for a clean, modern look. The wall was properly backfilled using geofabric, agi pipe, and drainage gravel to ensure durability and performance over time.

The area was then reinstated with fresh underturf soil and quality garden soil, ready for the client to complete planting with their choice of greenery.

The retaining wall was designed and constructed at a height of one metre, avoiding the need for engineering while still delivering a strong and compliant outcome.
