Suburb: Upper Coomera
Project Cost: $30,000-$40,000
This project involved transforming an extremely steep and difficult to access section of the property into a safe, practical, and visually appealing access route connecting the pool area to the rear of the block.
The client approached us seeking a solution for an area that had almost no machine access and was challenging to navigate. To complement the natural surroundings and planned landscaping, a bush rock staircase system was designed and constructed using carefully selected flat bush rock. The flatter stone profile provides improved grip underfoot while maintaining a natural, rustic appearance.
Due to the site’s challenging conditions, the majority of the project was completed entirely by hand. Every stone was individually positioned and installed on a strong foundation, and secured into place using decomposed granite mixed with concrete.
To ensure the longevity of the structure, a retaining wall was constructed alongside it, with a comprehensive drainage system behind it, including geofabric, drainage gravel, and agi pipe to effectively manage water movement through the site.
Despite multiple rain delays throughout construction, the project was successfully completed over a three week period. The finished result provides reliable access from the pool area to the back of the property while blending naturally into the landscape and complementing the surrounding environment.
